Hello! I'm long overdue for a little update on what's been going on in my little art world. And there are some new things happening that are quite exciting!
Update #1: I am super pumped to be guest posting on Alisa Burke's blog, Redefine Creativity. As I've said on here a few times, Alisa's blog (and her journey as an artist) is really what inspired me to take the leap into being a full-time artist. It's hard to believe that it was more than 3 years ago that I began to scheme and plan for the day that I'd be leaving my teacher paycheck for the wild, wild west (aka, the freelance world). And Alisa's blog - plus a few emails back and forth - really encouraged me that I could do it.
So, to be guest posting for her now is a huge honor!
You can see my first two posts on hand lettering here and here.
Update #2: I have new products launching soon with Minted! One of the biggest categories for Minted is WEDDINGS and I was so excited to learn I placed 14th out of 1922 entries in the To Have and To Hold Wedding Invitation Challenge with my design, "Modern Dash." There were some truly gorgeous designs in this competition, so it was pretty cool to see my piece in the mix!
I posted a couple months ago about Art and Competition - and it's kind of funny, because as I keep entering these competitions or putting myself out there, I have been seeing more success. So I'm just trying to be thankful, continue working hard, and continue being mindful of not letting "success" be an idol in my life. It's a fine little line, but we all have to balance it in our lives one way or another.
Update #3 Social media is my only marketing tool. I don't spend any money on advertising in any way, shape, or form. I only rely on the internet and word of mouth. So it was pretty exciting to see my work on Emily Henderson's blog yesterday in her Best Online Art Resources post. Alongside some of my favorite artists nonetheless!

Update #4 - I've got some new prints in my etsy shop - and I'm going to be introducing 11" x 14" sized prints very soon (and phasing out 5" x 7"s). Here's my favorite of the new batch:
Update #5 I'm excited to be teaming up with Mandy England for her new endeavor, The Happy Mail Club. You can read about it here - but for just $12 you get 3 art postcards from Christian artists, featuring illustrated Bible verses. You can send the post cards on to a friend, or save for your own art collection! Mandy is donating all of the profits to evangelical church planting and missions. I will be one of the artists in her first package for the month of April and I'm so happy to take part!

So that's all for now. Thanks for following along everyone! Must go make things now :)
Just saw your tutorials on Alisa's blog, thank you for sharing. I'm struggling so much with adding words to my art. I generally have good handwriting but when it comes to adding it to a painting, ugh! I also loved your post on Art and Competition, thank you so much for being real and sharing. Yay, for another artist, believing in Jesus, living in VA, I'm not alone!
