Hey friends! Last week, I shared with you my Fab 5 Artist Bloggers - that is, artists that also blog. Today, I'm bringing you my Fab 5 Art Blogs. What's the difference? Well, it will be easy to see.
The blogs today are way less personal. The focus is all on art, art, and more art. These blogs are where I go when I need an inspiration fix. They are like a quick trip to Art Basel - lot's of weird, mixed with just enough greatness to get your inspiration on overload.
So, once again, in no specific order, here are my Fab 5 - go to - Art Blogs.
1st up: Supersonic Electronic
This blog is all about cool, funky art. Yet, what I like about it, is they (in my opinion) never showcase art that I don't think is really "good." (that's an entirely different debate) It's weird, but not weird for weird's sake. There is a lot of art out there today that I just don't get, and frankly, I don't care to get. And Supersonic does a great job of avoiding that. Whether it's intentional or not, I get it. And I like it.
2nd: Doodlers Anonymous
Hoorah for weirdness! This blog is dedicated to the free flowing art of doodling. Whether that means a scribble on a napkin, or a full blown "fine art" piece, this site gives a voice to chronic doodlers. (aka, ME!) With frequent Showcases (challenges) and over 8,000 members, Doodlers Anonymous gives me the inspiration to never leave my sketchbook behind - because even doodles can be art.
3rd: The Art Cake
I like The Art Cake because Christi, the curator, finds art from off the beaten path. Sometimes, I'm like "huh?" with some of the art she posts, but the best part is that she posts new art every single day. And, once she posted about me...so that gives her a lot of points!
4th: The Jealous Curator
Here is a quote from the Jealous Curator herself, which pretty much sums up why I think she features such great stuff. It's that first instant when you know if something hits you or it doesn't.
"There is one moment, in the first few seconds, when you look at a piece of art and know that you love it. It’s the moment when, if you’re an artist yourself, you look at it and feel a rush of uplifting inspiration… and total soul-crushing jealousy all at the same time. It’s when you walk away thinking, “Damn, I wish I thought of that.”'
5th: I Love Illustration
If you like fashion illustration, you will love this blog because it is packed full of it.
