After this amazing weekend we spend in the beautiful Bath Country, Virginia, I felt this great understanding of and appreciation for landscape painters. Not that I'd never been inspired by beautiful scenic views before, however, for some reason I just never had the urge to paint them.
Exploring this past weekend, however, I suddenly got it. I snapped photo after photo after photo of the gorgeous fields, hills, and streams throughout the Shenandoah Valley to bring home and paint. (whether I get to that project or not, time will tell...)
So, today's post will be the first of a few landscape artists that I admire. A little series within a series...
Philip Govedare's abstracted landscapes of excavated sites are just bursting with energy. His use of color and line are what drew me in...beautiful works, eh?
Happy Monday everyone!
Oh, and PS: My hand lettering is featured on the beautiful wedding photography blog of Michelle VanTine. Check it out here, and make sure you check out her website as well!
